The Government of Jamaica, through the United Nations Environment Programmes, has received financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to implement the National Sub-Project 1.4 Biodiversity Mainstreaming in Coastal landscapes within the Negril Environmental Protection Area of Jamaica under regional project Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Canbbean Small Island Developing States, for the engagement of a Consulting Firm to conduct an Ecological assessment of the Negril Great Morass within the Negril Environmental Protection Area.
The National Environment & Planning Agency (NEPA). executing agency for the project, now invites eligible consulting firms ("Consultants") to indicate their interest in undertaking the Ecological Assessment of the Negril Great Morass. The purpose of this consultancy is to undertake an ecological assessment to define the terrestrial and rivenne habitats and their associate species within the boundaries of the Negnl Environmental Protection Area (EPA) and develop a restoration plan. The consultancy will also include the identification and analysis of habitat changes within the Negril Great Morass; Habitat/ ecosystem rehabilitation investments for conservation of internationally significant, endemic and migratory species; and the preparation of plans/strategies/programmes to manage and restore the resources of the Negril EPA/Neghl Great Morass.
