Expression of Interest are invited for Comparative Assessment of Raw Water Intake Options for the SWRO Plant located on Carriacou, Grenda.

The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Affairs (MCPMA) in partnership with the National Water
and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA), has received grant funding from the Government of Italy
under the Italy Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Partnership program to support
implementation of the pilot project entitled: “Extending Water Availability to the Rural Areas of
Carriacou.” This project is being implemented by the NAWASA and the Caribbean Community
Climate Change Centre (the Centre).
NAWASA and the Centre intend to use part of the proceeds of the grant to contract an Individual
Consultant to conduct an assessment and provide a technically sound solution to addressing the raw
water intake problems at the Carriacou Salt Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant.
This Consultancy is expected to be implemented over a period of approximately seven (7) weeks or
such other period as may be determined. The expected commencement date is April 23, 2018 and
completion date is June 15, 2018. The Scope of Services includes the presentation of findings and
recommendations on matters covering:
1. An analysis of the existing water intake system, identification of the deficiencies and
recommendations for correcting deficiencies.
2. Examination of potential for the use of a bore hole as an alternative intake option for the
SWRO and recommendation on its technical feasibility and cost of installation and operation.
3. An objective comparison of the pros and cons for the use of the rejuvenated existing intake
system against the adoption of the bore hole intake system; and
4. Preparation of a comprehensive report on the work done under this consultancy, as a
summary of the Final Report that includes related findings with clear and specific
recommendations.
