SCOPE OF WORK

Assessment Questions

- What are the influential factors that affected the existence and operation of the micro and/or small businesses?

 What are the success factors that supported the existence and operation of micro and/or small

businesses in general? And following the lines of dynamic capabilities and resources-based views?

 What are the tangible and intangible resources that are crucial and contributed for the business

growth?

- What is the socio-economic impact of the microbusinesses on macro and micro levels in Jordan? (Comparing

the different sectors, nationalities, and locations)

- What are the perceptual effects of geographical location on the performance of the micro and/or small

businesses?

- What is the actual and perceptual impact of age and gender on the sustainability and/or operation of the micro

and/or small businesses?

- What are the strategies affecting the sustainability of the micro and/or small businesses? (Comparing the

different sectors, nationalities (Jordanians, non-Jordanian residents and Syrian and non-Syrian refugees), and

locations)

- What is the success rate across the different sectors of the micro and/or small businesses?

- What are the predominantly preferable sectors for Syrians and Jordanians (independently)? And why?

- What is the impact of nationality on the success and sustainability of the micro and/or small businesses?

Assessment Methodology

The consultant will be responsible for developing the tools, carrying out the data collection from the different sources,

analyzing it, and reporting:

 Survey with a sample of micro-small business beneficiaries (representation of the different projects,

locations, years, nationalities, gender)

 Interview the program staff (implementation and technical)

 Interviews with mentors to get feedback about the mentoring process and its effectiveness.

 Interviews with officials from relevant ministries.

 Sample visits to businesses.
