⑷ Basic requirements of the procurement :
A This system should be mainly composed of a supercomputer.
B The supercomputer should be composed of several nodes as distributed memory parallel computers. Hereafter the computational node is defined as a computer system which is composed of one or more processing units and main memory shared by them. Theoretical peak performance on double-precision floating point of each node of distributed memory type supercomputer must be 2TFLOPS or higher and main memory of each node must be 1TByte or more. The peak speed for communication between any two nodes should be equal to or faster than 1GByte per each direction.
C Total number of the nodes must be 64 or larger. Total computing speed of the supercomputer for 64-bit floating-point number should be 131 TFLOPS or higher.
D The supercomputer should process the benchmark programs that we provide within prescribed time.
E Each computational node must be equipped with magnetic disk drives whose capacity is enough to operate the supercomputer stably. Computer system which needs no system disks for each node should have operating system so as to manage the supercomputer effectively.
F The supercomputer should have a fast interface between main storage and magnetic disk units.
G Operating system must be Linux.
H The system should include software to construct, manage and provide many cloud environments.
I In a cloud environment, Windows and Linux should be available.
J In a cloud environment, the system should have high performance compilers for FORTRAN, C, C++ and Java. These compilers should have optimization facility tuned for the system configuration.
K In a cloud environment, the communication library MPI 2.1 or later version should be provided.
L In a cloud environment, statistical software including R should be executed in parallel.
M Software that has been developed in our institute should be easily converted to software for the new system.
N The system should have fast interface for computer network so as to be connected to the present local area network.
O The system assembly must be carefully designed so that the system is kept cool even if CPU, memory and disk drives are fully and continuously operated.
P Hardware should have high reliability in order to serve computing power constantly.
Q Cooling system which allows us to operate supercomputer system under so called low PUE condition.
