Cascade Barberine, Significant Renewal, Lot Frequency Converter Drive Train PN and Grid Coupling As part of the Major Renewal of the Barberine Cascade project, SBB is planning to renew several power plants. The Châtelard I power plant is located in in the town of Le Châtelard in the municipality of Finhaut in the canton of Valais and was built between 1919 and 1923. In 1972 the power plant was expanded to include the ChâtelardII plant. The power plant is primarily used to supply traction power (16.7Hz). Western Switzerland and the Simplon Line. With the Kaskade Barberine Substantial Renewal project, the plan is to bring the power plant equipment of the two power plant centers up to the current technical standard and thus ensure reliable turbine and...
