intent (scope of work) captionists must have completed a software abbreviation program like typewell or c-print or another abbreviation software program or be court reporters. • captionist are required to work with the student to determine what signs or words would work best for them to help them understand. Every student is different; every student has their own vocabulary, and we accommodate the individual communication needs of the deaf and hearing impaired students. • captionist are required to be communication mediums only. At no point should they interject their own comments, regardless of accuracy. • travel time to the location where services are to be rendered shall be billed at the standard hourly rate but shall be capped at no more than 1 travel time per day. • the university will not pay for services on the days of campus closures. Campus closures are an exception to the 24 hour notification requirement.
