As part of its participation in the U.S. Department of Transportation-s SMART Grant Program, the City of Alexandria is seeking innovative technologies for pavement condition assessment and infrastructure data collection. The goal is to enhance proactive maintenance, asset management, and long-term capital planning through accurate, timely, scalable, and high-resolution data.This initial pilot, which may include multiple vendors, is focused on evaluating vehicle-mounted devices that can provide updates on pavement conditions—such as potholes, markings, and surface quality. The City seeks solutions that can proactively manage roadway and infrastructure needs, streamline maintenance, and capture and evaluate physical assets along roadways. The goal is to leverage the information from the pilots to incorporate new technologies into the Citys municipal environment.
