Tender Details

Better Factories Cambodia is part of the Better Work programme, a partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) that aims to create sustainable change in factories and improve working conditions together with improved business benefits. BFC started operating in Cambodia in 2001. It was linked to an innovative trade agreement between the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and the United States. The BFC programme covers the entire Cambodian export garment sector, as all garment factories with export licenses are required to be assessed by BFC. It currently assesses working conditions in around 796 factories employing approximately 761, 464 workers, of which78% are women. An estimated 2 million Cambodians are sustained through remittances sent home by garment workers to their families. As part of its strategy for sustainable improvement in factories, BFC promotes gender equality, empowerment of women, and inclusiveness in Cambodia-s garment sector, and is well placed within the industry to increasingly focus on the promotion of gender equality in its factory level work. While the programme was set up as a monitoring programme, over time, it has transformed into a programme that helps factories to improve relations between unions and management, make improvements on working conditions and help build capacity of factory staff on labour related issues. The objective of this terms of reference is for hiring a profession...
