todd creek trestle rehabilitation

background

the capital regional district (crd) is undertaking a rehabilitation of the todd creek trestle bridge (trestle) near sooke, b.c. many of the trestle's timber bents, bracing and stringers have deteriorated over the past 60 years, and an inspection in the summer of 2017 indicated it was no longer safe for public use. the crd is seeking contractors with specialized trades to replace deteriorated timbers with new or recycled timber members ("the project"). this project requires safety-oriented and experienced trades-people to undertake this work.

scope of work

the objective of the project is generally to rehabilitate the existing all-timber trestle and thereby provide many decades of safe and enjoyable use by the public. successful completion of this project will deliver a unique and authentic experience for cyclists and pedestrians using the galloping goose regional trail near sooke, b.c. key indicators of a successfully delivered project include:

.the project is delivered safely;

.the project is delivered within the agreed overall price that is determined at the time of award;

.the project is delivered within the schedule agreed upon by the crd and the contractor; and

.the project is delivered within acceptable tolerances of quality
