Bow Valley College is looking to purchase a Social Humanoid Robot (SHR) to assist in the advancement of health technology research, within the Bow Valley College Simulation Centre, a fully immersive simulation research and training environment. The SHR will be used in research to assess the application of robotics as a memory aid for people living with dementia. There are increasing numbers of applications for robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and medicine. The College-s innovative approach towards the use of a SHR with the help of AI as a memory aid can explore and open a new cross- disciplinary dialog between the fields of robotics, machine learning, AI, and healthcare and medicine to address complex societal health challenges.
