BME FOR 2026-05 Preliminary project Pyrolysis
The purpose of the preliminary project is to provide Bergen municipality with a professional basis for assessing the possibilities for the use of pyrolysis in Bergen. The preliminary project will provide a knowledge base on current raw materials, areas of application, technological solutions, resource and environmental effects, value creation potential in Bergen as well as the possible establishment of pilot projects. The assignment shall not include detailed design or realization of a concrete pyrolysis plant. Bergen municipality at the Urban Environment Agency wants to investigate how pyrolysis can contribute to better utilization of local resources, reduce waste quantities and create new values. The preliminary project will provide the municipality with a knowledge base about the potential for pyrolysis in Bergen and form the basis for further assessments of relevant measures, cooperation models and pilot projects. The investigation must include relevant raw materials, areas of application and technological solutions, without being limited to specific waste fractions or technologies.
