Description: The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey was established in 1984 with 15 states participating in monthly data collection. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) are accepting applications for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS): Impact on Population Health.The BRFSS is the nation's premier system of a health-related telephone survey that collects state data about health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and the use of preventive services by U.S. residents. Since its establishment in 1984, BRFSS has grown to be the only continuous, state-based health surveillance system that is conducted nationwide. The survey is divided into Component A - Core and Component B - Asthma Call Back Survey (ACBS).The purpose of this multi-component Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to provide financial and technical assistance to government and non-government applicants to maintain the surveillance system and expand the use of BRFSS data to inform public health actions to improve health.
