BAV 71084 VBZ area Luggwegstrasse, feasibility study, general planning Subject and scope of the order This call for tenders is looking for a general planning team that will examine the feasibility of sub-project 3b and finally incorporate the results a master plan for the entire area. The VBZ area on Luggwegstrasse forms a central pillar of Zurich's tram infrastructure and fulfills a strategically important function as a workshop and operating location. The existing buildings from the 1970s and 1990s show a significant need for repairs and adjustments. At the same time, operational requirements are increasing as the fleet expands and the upcoming revision cycles. About future performance To ensure this, the location is to be modernized in stages and expanded to include additional depot and inspection capacities. This creates a robust, sustainable infrastructure area with long-term usage prospects. The Zurich transport company (VBZ) and the Office for Building Construction (AHB) carried out a planner election process in 2021/22 to set up a general planning team to develop strategic planning and feasibility studies for the VBZ area on Luggwegstrasse in Zurich-Altstetten and other areas.
