The Barbican Renewal Programme is the City of London Corporation's (The City) plan to ensure every part of the Barbican Centre's iconic site is restored, revitalized and relevant for future generations. The Barbican is a Grade II listed Brutalist icon, recognised as one of the UK's architectural treasures. Since we opened our doors in 1982, we have become a world-renowned destination, offering a creative programme of unique breadth in spaces of exceptional architectural significance. The Barbican Renewal Programme consists of the following projects: Conservatory Refurbishment of the existing Barbican Conservatory to address critical building and infrastructure issues while honouring the original architectural vision, revitalising it into an iconic, free and welcoming public green space, The scope includes major accessibility upgrades, improved legibility and circulation, and sensitive restoration of the historic fabric to enhance thermal performance, sustainability and climate resilience. Foyers, Lakeside, Catering Block The aim of this project is to ensure that these key public spaces of the Barbican Centre's iconic site are restored, revitalised and relevant for future generations.
