In August 2024, Sunds-Ilskov School and Skalmeje School were merged into a joint school with a joint board and management. The combined school was named Sunds School - with 3 departments - Skalmejevej Department, N0ddevej Department and Ilskov Department. After the merger, a process has taken place where the future distribution of entry, intermediate and exit in the three departments had to be determined. The decision on the forward-looking distribution, as well as financing of necessary renovations, was finally adopted in the budget agreement for 2026. It has been decided that a renovation and extension of Dept. Skalmejevej for a primary school and a conversion and renovation of Dept. N0ddevej for an intermediate and secondary school. In addition, it has been decided to allocate funds to a number of projects related to the day care area in Sunds. It has been decided to demolish two obsolete pavilion buildings and at the same time build new replacement capacity. It has been decided to gather the kindergarten children in Sunds in a new building, to be built on the same land as Skalmejeskolen. The nursery school children in Sunds gather in the existing children's home on Strandvejen, which is to be rebuilt and expanded in this connection. When remodeling and expansion of Strandvejen is finished, the existing branch on Vibevej can be closed. The combined projects in the area of ​​children and young people in Sunds are then brought together under the working title Children's Health.
