The City of Hasselt owns strategically located plots on the Astrid site with a total area of ​​10, 547 m², located between Koningin Astridlaan, Mouterijstraat, Vrijwilligersplein and Melkvoetstraat. The site is mainly used today used as a parking lot and does not make sufficient use of its spatial and urban potential. In implementation of the administrative agreement and the urban policy plan, the City of Hasselt is committed to core reinforcement, qualitative densification and sustainable urban development. The Astrid site is considered an important hinge in the urban structure, with the potential to create a strong spatial connection between the station area and the Blue Boulevard. The city aims to redevelop the site into a high-quality urban district, with attention to housing, public and collective space, quality of life and spatial cohesion.
