The Assignment concerns the implementation of ecological measures (such as inventory, translocation and monitoring of certain animal species), the coordination of activities related to tree felling, and various additional tasks. The necessary actions regarding ecological mitigation measures for the population of the garden dormouse in the project area of the DBFM project R0 North - Zone Zaventem must be carried out prior to the felling and execution works for the redevelopment of the motorway in this project area. These ecological mitigation measures must enable the existing population to survive the duration of the construction works and the regrowth period of the habitat (woody vegetation along the motorway infrastructure). These fauna mitigation measures are required under the GRUP ‘Spatial redevelopment of the Brussels Ring (R0) - Northern section- and pursuant to the Species Decree. The permit application for the redevelopment of R0 North Phase 2 Zone Zaventem includes the ecological mitigation plan and the species assessment. The relevant sections for this specification can be found in the annex. The aforementioned felling works form part of the preparatory works for the DBFM project R0 North - Zone Zaventem. These are the subject of a separate contract and are described in Part 4 of these Specifications.
