The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-s (NOAA) Acquisition and Grants Office, Eastern Acquisition Division-Kansas City intends to negotiate and award a purchase order, on a sole source basis, under authority of RFO FAR 6.103-1, with AAK Power Supply Corp in Plaistow, NH for Power Supply Units (P/N CT15.15-.3SP) to be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center in Grandview, MO.
The sole source determination is based on NOAA-s sole source justification. AAK Power Supply Corp is the only manufacturer of ASOS Power Supply Units with no authorized resellers. Part Number CT15.15-.3SP (NSN 6130-01-390-2211), is necessary to maintain technical compatibility with the existing ASOS system baseline. The unit provides the exact electrical characteristics, physical configuration, and system integration required for the ASOS visibility sensor subsystem. Procuring an alternate power supply would require engineering evaluation, qualification testing, and potential system modifications to verify compatibility with existing ASOS configurations. Additionally, the ASOS program requires standardized components to maintain interchangeability, configuration control, logistics support, and long-term sustainment across geographically dispersed field sites.
