The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is inviting proposals for a data and engagement-driven research project that will explore the impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) transitions across sectors in the community. Understanding the local impacts of AI transitions will be a core component of the research. Information from the research report will help build recommendations for local actions to support workforce development, from high school to second-career transitions.
The goal of this project is to explore the impacts of AI on the workforce, opportunities for job seekers, skills demand, and opportunities for workforce development and training/upskilling along a 5-year horizon.
The Project will:• Provide an overview of the current and anticipated impacts of AI transitions on the workforce (broadly speaking, in the Canadian/provincial context, and/or in comparative economic regions to CK).• Analyze what sectors are most likely and least likely to be impacted by AI transitions.• Identify what occupations are most likely and least likely to be impacted by AI transitions• Provide research on in-demand skills in a growing AI workforce.• Analyze the local impacts of AI transitions. Key themes to be analyzed in the local labour context include job displacement, job creation and transformation, and evolving skill requirements.
