Location: The Sheridan Building, located at 3700 N Capitol Street NW, DC 20011, is integral to the 272-acre Armed Forces Retirement Home campus.
Building Details: Constructed in 1962, the eight-story facility encompasses 387, 350 square feet. It presently serves as the primary dormitory for independent and assisted living residences.
Historic Status: The AFRH campus is designated as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places, any construction activities potentially affecting The Sheridan Building area are subject to historical preservation review.
Renovation Outcome: Following the renovation, the building is projected to contain approximately 354 residential spaces complemented by amenities. Resident rooms will range from approximately 450 to 750 square feet and will incorporate kitchenettes, ADA-compliant bathrooms, living space, and bedrooms (where applicable). The overarching objective is to establish an appealing residential building to effectively attract and retain future veteran retirees.
