ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION OF IDEAS FOR THE STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF THE WIDER AREA OF ELEON The formation of the Basic Idea for the Strategic Planning of Eleonas requires the transition from the logic of isolated projects to an Urban model Metabolism. The present competition seeks to redefine Eleonas as a new metropolitan landscape of resilience, public space, production and habitation, exploring the possibility of developing new architectural and urban patterns that respond to contemporary environmental, social and economic challenges. Elaionas should be treated as a living organism with a deep stratification, which does not aim at estrangement from the past (craftsmanship-history) but the uses as raw material to redesign the climate and social resilience of the future, providing an ecosystem of urban coexistence. The competition aims to produce new visions of urban regeneration for the area as well as development of integrated proposals that combine: architectural design, urban strategy, public space, environmental resilience, and mechanisms of urban transformation, in strengthening the relationship between urban regeneration, social cohesion and sustainable development.
