The Australia Pacific Climate Change Partnership (the Partnership) is a $75 million investment over four years (2018-2022), funded by the Australian Government-s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). It aims to increase the effectiveness of Australia-s support for climate change action and disaster resilience in the Pacific, bringing together investments in climate information and services, governance and technical support in order to achieve three objectives. The Partnership has a dedicated Support Unit with a staff of technical experts based in Canberra and Suva who deliver climate change and disaster risk reduction (DRR) advice for Australia-s aid investments in the Pacific. The Support Unit also tailors and brokers climate and disaster information products and services to communities, businesses and governments in the region. It manages an Expert Panel to support these activities by providing specialist skills in prio rity sectors. The Support Unit is implemented by Palladium in partnership with Griffin NRM.

The Alumni Facilitator will coordinate an active, vibrant and productive Australian alumni climate change network across the Pacific region, enabling professional development, sharing of experiences and enhancing access to employment opportunities. As a result of the work, Australian climate change alumni will be well placed to engage regionally and in their countries in climate change action, bringing a depth of local knowledge and context together with strong professional and skills capability. The role will be based in the Pacific, and part-time.

The facilitator will report to the Partnership Support Unit Team Leader and manage the following tasks:
* Work with DFAT program managers at Australian Pacific Posts, managing contractors of Australia Awards, and alumni associations to establish the network, assembling current and past alumni of climate- and disaster-related awards across government, civil society and the private sector
* Promote equitable access to and participation in alumni engagement opportunities for women, people with disability and other disadvantaged members of society, including through the Australia Awards Women-s Leadership Initiative
* Establish mechanisms for regular communication between network members - e.g. through social media, workshops, events and skype conferences
* Link alumni up with the Partnership Support Unit-s Expert Panel and other activities planned in the region, offering mentoring opportunities
* Identify opportunities for professional development short courses in countries and in the region (e.g. through regional organisations such as the University of the South Pacific and South Pacific Regional Environment Program) and broadcast these to the network
* Identify opportunities for employment in countries and in the region (e.g. through donor networks and utilising the outreach capability of the Partnership Support Unit) and broadcast these to the network
* Manage mechanisms for assessing effectiveness of the network, including tracing studies, feeding in to the Partnership Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning system, and DFAT-s Australia Awards Global Tracer Facility.
* Harness the network to strengthen Australia-s diplomatic access and influence and promote Australia-s credentials in education, science, research and innovation.
* Link alumni and the Alumni Network-s social media and communications outputs with the global Australia Awards social media to increase awareness and enhance public diplomacy outcomes.
* Experience in the Pacific in professional network facilitation and communities of practice
* Strong interpersonal and networking skills and skills in organising and facilitating groups, events and workshops
* Experience in communication using social media and other channels in the Pacific region to link people and networks
* Extensive experience in, and knowledge of, Pacific Island countries
* Connections with key educational and training institutions in the Australia-Pacific would be an advantage.
