"AHS Clinical Coding Specialists code/abstract approximately 2.5 million cases per year (Inpatient, Emergency Department, Day Surgery and Cardiac Catheterization). The process is primarily manual with limited information being captured and presented for validation. Although Canadian Clinical Coding Standards guide data collection, there may be variability in data capture, completeness and quality. Significant and ongoing overtime has been utilized to meet timelines for submission to Alberta Health and Canadian Institute for Health Information (“CIHI”) to meet the AHS data demand. The objective is to gather information on innovative computer assisted coding technologies that can streamline coding processes, improve coding accuracy, efficiency, and compliance within AHS. This Request for Information (“RFI”) seeks to gather insights into available computer assisted coding solutions (the “Solution”).
