Description : I. Purpose of the contract

Working closely with the WHO DPS Pacific Health Systems and Policy team and Brisbane Accordance group (BAG) colleagues, the contractor will develop and conduct multi-country training on death certification for doctors. The purpose of the contract is to strengthen the capacity of medical practitioners in ensuring adequate, appropriate and accurate medical certification of cause of death. The course is delivered as a 'training of trainers' program for doctors on ICD-compliant certification practices. Doctors who attend this course will become master trainers for training doctors in their country. The training will aim to review the current training materials and approach, update the training material to address these, and build capacity amongst the attendees both to improve their own practice in certification, but also to train colleagues in how to complete a certificate and audit certificate quality.

The course will focus on the international standards for the medical certification of deaths, how the underlying cause of death is determined, common issues and solutions, and dealing with sensitive information. Specific topics will include:
