AF05 Mutz Refit Replacement Switch The current switches in the OCTOPUS Classic family from Hirschmann are EoL. Models with 16 ports and 24 ports are currently in use. The new switches from various manufacturers have been available for some time now available. The new devices support a 1 Gbit/s backbone or higher. The network on the MUTZ fleet is a 100 Mbit/s ring, which will be expanded to a 1 Gbit/s ring or higher during the project. Currently all switches are Layer 2. According to the new network concept, Layer 3 switches are required for each end car at the end of the network ring with the PLC modem. All other switches require Layer 2. This means per vehicle: · Mutz 4 pieces o Switch Layer 2 with 16 ports of 3 each. oSwitch Layer 2 with 24 ports of 3 each. o Switch Layer 3 with 24 ports of 2 each. · Mutz 6 pieces (option 1) o Switch Layer 2 with 16 ports of 7 each. o Switch Layer 2 with 24 ports of 3 each. o Switch Layer 3 with 24 ports of 2 each.
