The tunnel and shaft works are divided into two separate ones contracts, Avloppstunnel Norr and Avloppstunnel Söder, which are procured together in a package and where tenderers can choose to submit tenders for one or both contracts. Avloppstunnel Norr includes 4 shafts and a 10.5 km long main tunnel with internal diameter of about 3 meters which stretches from southern Lund to Sjölunda in north-eastern Malmö. Sewer tunnel Söder includes 11 shafts, 2 microtunnels and the main tunnel which stretches 5.5 km through the central parts of Malmö and has an internal diameter of about 5 meters. The tunnels will transport the waste water through self-fall and form reservoirs in case of large amounts of rainfall. Both contracts include construction, construction and installation work for the new sewer tunnels.
