Alesund municipality will widen the road width on Markastien by Emblem primary school and kindergarten to improve traffic safety and traffic flow in the area. Today's The road is narrow, has limited visibility and is not suitable for larger vehicles. The new road is dimensioned for the meeting between bus and car in both directions. As part of the works, the existing wall will be moved further into the slope to the north, new street lights will be installed and the stormwater system will be upgraded to applicable norms and guidelines. The most relevant issues in the project are construction work along a busy road which includes digging in loose materials, both for new walls and trenches, digging along water mains (pressure mains), waste water mains and work with power cables and lampposts. The road leads to a kindergarten, school and sports facilities, which is a special consideration that must be taken. In addition, the existing water main, which contains asbestos cement, must be rehabilitated. This requires special measures.
