The software to be acquired by the radiotherapy service is an autocontouring software of anatomical structures by artificial intelligence which will work on the basis of CT images.
In radiotherapy, a "CT" generally refers to a scanner, also called simulation scanner orsimulation. This scanner is used to obtain detailed images of the area to be treated before starting radiotherapy.
The CT scanner in radiotherapy makes it possible to:
- Determine the contours of the tumor volume: it helps to locate the tumor and neighboring structures precisely in order to planA targeted treatment and avoid healthy tissues.
- Simulate the patient's positioning: it allows the patient to be positioned in an optimal way for treatment, which is crucial for the precision of the radiation.
