The information system must be suitable for archival use and for storing research material that is sensitive in terms of data security. The object of the acquisition is finished software that is in production use in all respects. Using the information system, it is ensured that the (digital) data produced by researchers at the University of Turku post-research preservation (archiving), usability and availability of research materials and further use in new studies. Research materials refer to original physical and digital materials produced and used in the research and their metadata. They are not publications resulting from research. Metadata and digital files of research materials are stored in the information system of the research material archive The system to be acquired in the research archive project (2025-2027) will be piloted at the university with three collections of material representing different disciplines, of which the competition and implementation includes the Research of History, Culture and the Arts migration of the department's archive (HKTL archive) and metadata and digital materials of one smaller set of research materials.
