The Lausanne automatic metro development program aims to increase the capacity of the m2 metro and the creation of the new m3 line between Lausanne-Gare and Blécherette. New GoA4 automatic metro rolling stock trainsets on tires are necessary to complete the m2 fleet currently in operation and achieve a cadence of 90 seconds. Studies carried out as part of the m3 project confirm that, for security reasons linked to the topography of the city of Lausanne, the trains of the new m3 metro must have characteristics very similar to those of the m2. The standardization of the fleet on the two lines will also facilitate logistics, maintenance and harmonize maintenance processes.
