For many years, CRA-W has been carrying out research on methane emissions from ruminants. This gas represents 40% of the carbon footprint of agriculture. The objective of this research is to propose strategies (diet, herd management, genetics) to limit methane emissions. The CRA-W already has five methane measuring devices, acquired since 2015. These are in high demand to measure emissions. Currently on the Libramont site, BBBc and cross bulls. As well as to follow the heifers and cows on the Vissac site. A sixth device is needed to strengthen our measurement capacity. The device must fulfill the role of automatic concentrate dispenser while quantifying gas emissions (CH4, CO2, O2, H2) emitted individually by cattle as they pass through this device.
