A202504 Expansion of the Mikkeli central archive, market dialogue
There is an archive building completed in 2018 on the plot, and the extension is located next to it. The size of the extension is about 8000 brm2.
The expansion of the central archive aims to improve the efficiency of the National Archives' operations in Finland in terms of space utilization and at the same time ensure a high utilization rate of the central archive's premises.
The target shelf capacity of the expansion is 100 kilometers of shelves, which will be placed in ten conditions-controlled warehouses to archive warehouses, whose storage system is implemented with the Double decker transfer shelf system (two levels). In addition, the expansion will include a map warehouse, production, office and social facilities as well as customer facilities.
The extension has a high service life (frame 200 years) and fire safety standard.
Tentative schedule:
The project plan will be ready in autumn 2026.
Investment decision in winter 2027.
Start of planning in spring 2027.
Implementation start in spring 2027.
There is no investment decision for the project yet.
