Tenders Are Invited For 500.2018.0086 Shute Harbour - Removal of Pontoons B, D & F for Temporary Storage

More Details : These works apply to the three steel pontoons designated as Pontoon “B”, Pontoon “D” and Pontoon “F”. These pontoons are estimated to be 50 to 70 Tonne based on the design drawings. Local industry advice indicates the pontoons have a displacement of up to 120 Tonne. Whitsunday Regional Council (WRC) requires that the pontoons are removed from the existing temporary storage location and relocated to an approved facility. The pontoons will be refurbished by a qualified marine engineering facility for reuse by the Whitsunday Regional Council under a separate contract. Only the Shipping and Storage aspects of the proposed works are included in the “Scope of Works”. The physical dimensions of the pontoons preclude road transport relocation of the vessels. No significant works can be approved in Shute Harbour due to environmental and development regulations. The safe towing or trans-shipment associated with landing the vessels at an approved marine engineering facility will be the responsibility of the Contractor. The successful Contractor will need to demonstrate that there is adequate marine insurance, to cover all foreseeable
salvage costs and consequential damage if the pontoon or pontoons sink in transit or damage other vessels or infrastructure.
