Kenya is officially known as the Republic of Kenya and is a country located in Africa. It is also a founding member of the East African Community. Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and also its largest city. Kenya is situated on the equator with the Indian Ocean that lies to its south-east and bordered by Tanzania on the south, South Sudan to the North West along with Uganda to the west, Somalia to the north-east and Ethiopia to the north. Kenya covers 581,309 squarekilometers and its population is approximately 45 million people as of 2014. The country has got a humid and warm tropical climate along the Indian Ocean coastline. This country is famous solely for its diverse climate, safaris and geography. Kenya has a variety of world heritage sites and world-famous beaches. The great lakes region of Africa that Kenya was a part of was inhabited by humans for ages. Kenya got its independence in the year 1963. On the basis of a referendum issued in August 2010 along with the adoption of a new constitution, this country is divided into 47 semi-autonomous counties and all of them are governed by elected governors. Nairobi, the nation’s capital is considered to be the regional commercial hub. In terms of GDP, Kenya’s economy is considered to be the largest in both Central and Southeast Africa. Agriculture of this country employs a great number of people. The country used to traditionally export tea and coffee but has recently begun to export fresh flowers as well to Europe. The service industry of the country also contributes immensely to the economy. Kenya has affluent urban minority despite of being the biggest and most advanced economy and ranks 145 out of 186 in Human Development Index in the world. Kenya’s agricultural sector is one of the largely inefficient and least developed. Kenya is occasionally identified as an emerging market and classified as a frontier market but it is not considered to be one of the least developed countries. The economy has expanded in certain sectors and fields like in tourism, telecommunications, higher education, and acceptablepost-drought results in agriculture. In the year 2007, the economy has grown by more than 7% and foreign debt was reduced. But chaos engulfed the country after the disputed presidential election in 2007. Communication and Industry are the smallest sector and account for 16% of the GDP. The Manufacturing and service sectors account for 75% of the GDP but contribute 25% of labour force.
