The Netherlands is known to be the main constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is also the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriages. Apart from being the founding member of EU, The Netherlands is also a member of Eurozone, G-10, NATO, WTO, OECD and a part of the trilateral Benelux economic union. The economy of this country is marker based mixed economy and it ranks 17th out of 177 countries as per the Index of Economic Freedom. According to the International Monetary Fund, it also had the thirteenth-highest per capita income in the world as of 2013. In the same year, even the United Nations World Happiness Report ranked the country as the fourth happiest country in the world, reflecting its high quality of life.The Netherlands has been playing a significant role in the European economy for several centuries now and also has a developed economy. Since the 16th century, agriculture, shipping, fishing, banking and trade have been the leading sectors of the Dutch economy. The nation also has a high level of economic freedom and considered to be one of the top countries in the Global Enabling Trade Report as well.
