Summary Details:

The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit Proposals from qualified and experienced Transit System management companies to manage and operate the conventional and custom public Transit Systems in the South Island Region in a way that supports BC Transit''s vision to be "Your best transportation solution". This requires Operating Companies that are skilled in managing efficient and effective Transit Systems that support regional growth strategies and the official community plans of Local Government Partners that foster economic development within the region.

It is important for the Proponent to note that this RFP addresses Transit Services in several business units. Each business unit is distinct with individual Local Government Partners, budgets, and reporting. The public Transit Systems that are the subject of this RFP are the Cowichan Valley Transit System and the Victoria handyDART service (collectively, for the purposes of this RFP, referred to as the "South Island Region"). The purpose of combining the South Island Systems under a single RFP is to enable the achievement of two main goals:
