Antecedents

Before the migratory flow coming from Venezuela, UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), is implementing a program to prevent xenophobia and discrimination in the school environment based on the "Passport" methodology of Humanity. " The objective of this initiative is to work with teachers and students of educational units to deal with xenophobic behavior againstmigrant population and promote a culture of inclusion.



The methodology of "Passport of Humanity", which was developed by the UNICEF Committee of Spain and has been tested both in that country and in other European countries, has been adapted by UNICEF to the Ecuadorian migratory and educational reality. Through this project, work is being done in Esmeraldas, Carchi, Imbabura, Sucumbos and Pichincha.



To promote a culture of peace, goodIn the treatment and integration of migrant children, UNICEF and MINEDUC have teamed up with two organizations that have extensive experience in working in schools: TINKUY-Arteducarte and Nacin de Paz (Apostolic Vicariate of Esmeraldas). Both entities have their own methodological proposals that will be adapted to the methodology of UNICEF, Passport of Humanity, in order to generate an innovative proposal for the prevention ofxenophobia in schools.
