Supply and Installations of Signposts for National Youth Service

BACKGROUNDSierra Leone`s National Youth Service (NYS) is a national programme that promotes youth participation in governance. It is meant to provide newly qualified graduates with opportunities to obtain practical job experience in the public and private sectors of the economy; improve youth productivity for national integration and development; contribute to reducing unemployment; and promote entrepreneurship for self-reliance. The placing of sign post to identify the NYS activities will help to increase awareness of the work of the institution, Its goal is to ensure that adequate information is provided to the various communities and make their office easily accessible.The Youth Employment and Empowerment Programme (YEEP)now LED programme played a very important role in the setting up of the National Youth Service Scheme providing both financial and technical support. In the Annual Workplan (AWP) 2019 of the LED programme there was a provision made toward supporting the NYS activities, As result of this, NYS identified two activities namely Field monitoring in respect of the 200 corpsthat were deployed in all the 16 districts country wide and to erect 19 signposts in support of the NYS intervention activities.In this regard, NYS submitted to UNDP /Local Economic Development unit to support a project proposal to support them to erect 19 signpost country wideJUSTIFICATION The signpost to be done is to create not only awareness but also make their project activity interventions visible including making the various communities aware of their office contacts nationwide.Expected outcomeIncrease awareness in respect of the work of the National Youth ServiceHelp sensitize the public about National Youth Service various project interventionsHelp to spread vital information in respect of the office location
