Quotation are invited for Supply and Installation of Fire Rated Doors.

The AFRICAN REINSURANCE CORPORATION (AFRICA RE) is an international organization with Headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. Africa Re has six regional offices in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), Cairo (Egypt), Casablanca (Morocco), Lagos (Nigeria), Nairobi (Kenya), and Ebene (Mauritius). In addition, Africa Re wholly-owns a Subsidiary in South Africa (Africa Re South Africa Limited) and a Retakaful company in Egypt (Africa Retakaful Company).

The Corporation is owned by 41 member states of the African Union (AU), the African Development Bank (AfDB), 111 African insurance and reinsurance companies in Africa and 3 leading global insurance and reinsurance groups.

The current headquarters of Africa Re is located in Lagos at Plot 1679 Karimu Kotun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals from vendors qualified to carry out the supply and installation of fire rated doors with panic exit device as per the schedule below.

2. BACKGROUND

AFRICA RE Lagos office desires to carry out the supply and installation of fire rated doors with panic exit device. This installation is expected to meet internationally approved standards on fire regulation for high rise buildings.

3. BILL OF QUANTITY

The table attached is a detailed bill of quantity for prospective bidders. Companies are however encouraged to visit site for inspection before submitting their proposal.

4.3 Proposal Format

Respondents are requested to adhere to the following format:

a. Cover Letter – Include an overview of your organization and rationale why you feel your organization is a good fit for AFRICA RE’s needs.

b. Approach to Project – Discuss how you would approach this project and provide, as applicable, any comments on AFRICA RE’s proposed plan. AFRICA RE encourages respondents to submit proposals that include innovative methods and/or tasks that highlight their unique value. However, this should not be construed as an encouragement not to follow established best practices. Include and identify any major project risks and mitigation strategies bearing in mind that the floors will be occupied during the proposed project.

Note: Vendors are to visit the Africa RE building for a pre-site inspection and evaluation to have an understanding of the current status of the facilities as questions will be asked in that area during the second stage.

c. Client References – Provide at least three (3) references for similar work conducted in the last 10-years. This is a very necessary requirement.

d. Cost – Provide estimated cost breakdown by scope item as per Section 4).

e. other statutory requirements (evidence of registration, 3years audited financial accounts, list of personnel and technical team to be deployed, Management structure e.t.c)

4.4. SELECTION

The RFPs of responding firms will be rated among others in terms of:

a. Responsiveness to the RFP and demonstrated understanding of the project.

b. The experience of the firm making the proposal.

c. The capability to execute the project.

d. Project Cost.

5.1 AFRICA RE Rights Reserved

AFRICA RE reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take actions deemed in AFRICA RE’s best interest that may include any one or more of the following:

• Reject any or all proposals in whole or in part

• Waive any minor irregularities or informalities in a proposal

• Vary any timetable or schedule

• Suspend or modify the RFP process

• Negotiate the details of a proposal prior to contracting

5.2 Ownership and Return of Proposals

All materials submitted in response to this RFP shall become the property of AFRICA RE and shall not be returned to the respondent.
