Introduction

Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) is a civil society organization with over 45 years of global experience working in the development of profitable supply chains and sustainable businesses and livelihoods. Solidaridad seeks to promote sustainable and inclusive supply chains SWA operates in five continents through nine Regional Expertise Centers. The Regional Expertise Centre for the West Africa Region is in Accra, Ghana.

Solidaridad Liberia is working in Partnership with Key stakeholders including the Government of Liberia, International and national development partners to support farmers in the Cocoa and Oil palm Sectors to improve production and marketing. Solidaridad Liberia is currently implementing phase II of the Sustainable West Africa Oil palm Programme, SWAPP in 4 Countries (Liberia, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone)

The implementation of the Sustainable West Africa Oil palm Programme (SWAPP) in Liberia is based on the experience gained from the implementation of phase I of the Sustainable West Africa Oil palm Programme (SWAPP) in Ghana in the period of 2012-2016. The Dutch government through its embassy in Ghana funds SWAPP.

In Liberia, the implementation of the SWAPP II strategy will focus on the co-funding of SME farm support services and more efficient SME milling operations through grant funding.

SWAAP is a 4-year programme that aims to scale sustainable intensification of oil palm production and FFB processing in the four target countries (Liberia, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone). SWAPP II will focus on improving access to finance for various target groups to promote the adoption of BMP and RSPO standards.
