Prior Information Notice for Strengthening Malawi-s Education System.
This is a prior information notice only. This programme is a critical component of the UK-s country plan for Malawi which prioritises long term investments that address the root causes of poverty and vulnerability. Strengthening the education system will contribute to the UK-s efforts to improve public sector delivery, public financial management and family planning uptake (through girls- education), and reducing violence against women and girls. The UK will invest £37.5 million over four years (2018-2022) to improve efficiency in the education sector and thereby improve learning. There will be 3 core components with aim of improving education management and delivery of key public services. DFID and the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Malawi, seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified Supplier to manage and deliver the teaching numeracy and remedial education in lower primary school component . This will address the gap in support for improving the quality of numeracy instruction and remedial education in Malawi. The terms of reference for the numeracy component will be informed by a scoping project, currently underway, that will be finalised in early December 2018. The scoping project is investigating the major bottlenecks that are preventing student achievement in early grade mathematics, by conducting the following: - Curriculum review - Classroom observations (including assessing teacher pedagogy and the learning environment for early grade numeracy) - Review of student achievement results in early grade mathematics - Review of professional development and support structures for teachers - Policy review The findings of this scoping will be shared with all parties prior to tendering process EME will take place 5th December 2018 - To sign up for this event - follow link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/KT5LWLB
