Tender are invited for SE Area Fire Guard Construction
Project Description : The SE Area Fire Guard Construction Project requires the construction of a 100-meter wide community fire guard along the Southeast border of the Town of Rainbow Lake. This project entails the removal of flammable vegetation to provide a continuous break in those fuels, thereby increasing community safety and protection from wildfires. Low vegetation, including a ground cover layer, will be left intact; no stump removal will be undertaken; and cleared vegetation will be mulched. Fireguard installation will be completed under frozen ground conditions, atop an intact ground layer of vegetation and, likely, snowpack. The Contractor agrees to provide complete Vegetation Removal work in the area identified in “Appendix A” comprising approximately 22.8 hectares of forested lands. This project does not presume any merchantable timber. Forest company harvesting operations to remove merchantable timber under there FHP approvals will be completed in project area prior to project start. Mulched debris will be evenly spread so as to prevent larger piles being created that present a further fire hazard to the community.
