Office Location
The Safety Manager position is based at Chatswood but will be required to travel across the Sydney metropolitan area as far as Lithgow, Wollongong and Newcastle to inspect sites under construction and attend meetings.
Duration of Role
• Commencement date at contract execution.
• Duration of contract is 6 months plus 2 x 3 month extension options to be exercised at the Principal's discretion.

Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the role is to implement all TfNSW safety policies, protocols and procedures and to keep clear up-to-date administrative records and facilitate training in safety of Division safety policies and requirements across all NIF Infrastructure Delivery project activities in accordance to the NSW Rail Safety Act 2008, AS4292 Railway Safety Management and other Work Health and Safety System Guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
Provide assurance to the Director Infrastructure Delivery, NIF and Fleet Safety Manager that Transport for NSW's safety obligations are being met and fully satisfied in respect of contract management, as a supplier and owner of assets and procurer of transport services from a client perspective.
Provide technical expertise and professional advice on rail safety and/or WHS safety issues and investigate and resolve any safety problems, complaints, issues raised in consultation with operational managers and staff.
Ensure that NIF Infrastructure Delivery Project Team members and associated Contractors understand the Safety Management System, relevant NSW legislation and regulations within which they operate.
Undertake site and contract based inspections and assurance validations for relevant contractors and consultants on a structured risk basis, ensuring reporting clarity and implementation of recommendations where appropriate.
Coordinate the NIF Infrastructure Delivery inspection and assurance validation program on a collaborative and structured risk basis, and raise and resolve issues identified regarding unsafe working conditions through Fleet Program Delivery notification systems and processes to advise key personnel where required.
Support and actively participate in the implementation, administration and evaluation of Fleet Program Delivery safety improvement initiatives, technologies, processes and procedures, modifying existing NIF Infrastructure Delivery protocols as necessary to facilitate the inclusion of new or proposed safety requirements.
