Description : INTRODUCTION TO UNHCR
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.
UNHCR Egypt launched an awareness campaign called "Law Kont Makani" in 2017 to draw attention to the plight of refugees, seek the host community''s compassion towards them and ultimately encourage individuals and philanthropic private sector entities to support the refugee cause in their own capacities, whether through financial donations to UNHCR or through supporting initiatives promoting the welfare of refugees.
In light of this, UNHCR is looking to contract a media/advertising agency to launch an awareness campaign on social media to focus on one of the themes relating to the status of refugees in Egypt to be agreed upon with UNHCR. The range of proposed themes include, but are not limited to, asking ‘If you were in their place, what would you do, " with a focus on some sectors such as education, health, etc.., addressing discrimination against refugees, promoting co-existence between refugees and their host community.
