As part of the Coyah-Forcariah Road Rehabilitation Project, UNDP has received funding from the African Development Bank to implement the sub-component on "Multifunctional Platforms (MTFPs) and Empowerment of Women in Coyah and Forcariah Prefectures". . This sub-component falls within the framework of the consideration ofissues of the kind in the road infrastructure project that will cover these two areas.The prefectures of Coyah and Forcariah concerned by the road rehabilitation project are part of the six prefectures of Lower Guinea with a population of 416, 803 inhabitants of which 263, 192 women ( RGPH3, 2014). This area covers fourteen (14) communes which are: Forcariah thisBenty, Kaback, Farmorah, Kakossa, Mafrinyah, Moussayah, Sikhourou, Allassoyah, Kalia, Central Coyah, Manah, Kouria and Wonkifong. The economic activities that are practiced there are agriculture, breeding, fishing, hunting and trade. These two prefectures also have plains and mangroves suitable for the development of ricegardening. Women are very active in market gardening, palm oil extraction and marketing of agriculturalproducts.
