As part of the Coyah-Forcariah Road Rehabilitation Project, UNDP has received funding from the African Development Bank to implement the sub-component on "Multifunctional Platforms (MTFPs) and Empowerment of Women in Coyah and Forcariah Prefectures". . This sub-component falls within the framework of the consideration ofThe Coyah and Forcariah prefectures involved inthe road rehabilitation project are among the six prefectures of Lower Guinea with a population of 416, 803, of which 263, 192 are women ( RGPH3, 2014). This area covers fourteen (14) municipalities which are: Forcariah cenBenty, Kaback, Farmorah, Kakossa, Maferinyah, Moussayah, Sikhourou, Allassoyah, Kalia, Central Coyah, Maneah, Kouria and Wonkifong. The economic activities that are practiced there are agriculture, breeding, fishing, hunting and trade. These two prefectures also have plains and mangroves suitable for the development of ricegardening. Women are very active in market gardening, palm oil extraction and the marketing of agricultural products. However, climatic hazards combined with significant anthropogenic pressure with the degradation of soil and water resources due to the development of the habitat contribute to weakening the bases of development.In the rural context characterized by poverty, the impact of the Ebola virus disease and the socio-economic exclusion of women, UNDP with funding from the African Development Bank initiated a project to set up multifunctional platformsaround which will be developed a package of integrated services aimed at the selfnominating women, gender equity and poverty reduction.
