Expression of Interest are invited for Recruitment of Consulting Firm for Technical Support for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Disaster Risk Redaction (DRR) Interaction in Africa.

The African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD), based in NiameyNiger, has received financing from the African Development Bank through the ClimDev Special Fund to support the cost of the Satellite and Weather Information for Disaster Resilience in Africa (SAWIDRA) project implementation, and intends to use part of the agreed amount of this grant to pay for the contracts of “Recruitment of consulting firm for technical support for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Disaster Risk Redaction (DRR) interaction in Africa”.

The services included under this consultancy are: Provision of high level technical support to make the WRF model operational at ACMAD and to promote NWP-DRR interaction in Africa. These include WRF implementation and data assimilation and organisation of fora and training in the field of NWP and interaction between weather information producers and DRR stakeholders. The consultancy support is needed for (16) months, tentatively from September 2018. ACMAD now invites eligible potential firms to indicate their interest in providing these services.

Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Firms may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank Group “Procurement Framework” edition October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
