Tenders are invited for Recruitment of a Consultant for the development of the Infant and Young Child Feeding Strategy (IYCF) scaling up plan and the implementation of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (IHAB), N'Djamena-Chad (70 days).
In order to accelerate behavior change in young children's feeding practices in Chad, a National Strategy for IYCF was developed in 2016 and adopted in 2017. Among other effective interventions, this Strategy highlights the implementation of the BFHI to improve breastfeeding practices in the country, including early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months. Improving practices related to infant and young child feeding is essential to protect them from the vicious cycle of infections - malnutrition.
For example, UNICEF Chad supports the Government by participating in the joint response to combat malnutrition and improve child survival. This consultancy is part of the support provided to the Ministry of Health of Chad through the Directorate of Nutrition and Food Technology.

Description of tasks:
The consultant will be responsible for:
· Develop a plan for scaling up the IYCF strategy,
· Use a participatory approach to validate the IYCF passage plan,
· Document the bottlenecks and lessons learned from the IHAB in Chad,
· Adapt the new UNICEF / WHO guidelines for the implementation of the BFHI in Chad
· Develop a scaling plan for the BFHI.
Methodology:
Under the supervision of the UNICEF Nutrition Specialist, the consultant will work closely with the Directorate of Nutrition and Food Technology of the Ministry of Public Health (DNTA) and the UNICEF Nutrition Unit. . The process will be participatory by involving the technical committee that will be set up under the lead of the DNTA. The consultant will be responsible for:
· Write the plan for scaling up the IYCF strategy taking into account national strategic orientations and the country's commitment to infant and young child feeding
· Document the experience of the IHAB in Chad;
· Lead the development process of the implementation plan of the BFHI by integrating the new global guidelines in this area;
· Submit drafts of documents for validation by the Technical Committee;
· Organize workshops and meetings with partners to gather input throughout the strategy development process
· Write the final report of the consultancy
Candidate profile:
· Holds at least a Master's degree in Nutrition, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical and / or Paramedic Sciences
· At least 10 years of proven experience in planning and implementing programs to promote infant and young child feeding
· Proven experience in the development of strategic documents in the field of nutrition.
· Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
· Ability to work independently
· Recognized quality in communication and writing documents / presentations in French
