Expression of Interest are invited for Recruitment of a Consultancy Firm to Develop a Continental Digital and Knowlegde Platform for Nutrition.
1. The African Development Bank hereby invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in the following assignment: Development of a Continental Digital and Knowledge platform for nutrition.
2. Recognizing that poor nutrition is an impediment to attain the development of human capital, the African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) was formed under the leadership of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Union Commission and other partners to pursue the fulfilment of commitments under the ‘Declaration on Nutrition Security for Inclusive Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa’ as well as in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The ALN aims to increase and strengthen political commitment, policy coherence, financial commitments and track progress towards global targets in nutrition in Africa.
The initiative makes a case for nutrition investment in Africa through evidence-based knowledge generation and the use of several advocacy and communication tools.
On 30 January 2018, the Assembly of Heads of State endorsed the ALN initiative in Addis Ababa under the codification with the resolution entitled 'Decision on the African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) Initiative'. On 11 February 2018, His Majesty King Letsie III together with the President of the African Development Bank and the African Union Commissioner for Social Affairs launched a Continental Nutrition Accountability Scorecard on the margins of the 32nd African Union Summit.
3. The African Development Bank hereby invites qualified firms to indicate their interest in the development of a Continental Digital and Knowledge Platform for Nutrition. The purpose of this assignment is to convert and package the Continental Nutrition Accountability Scorecard into a dynamic and interactive platform.
4. Specifically, the selected firm will:
§ Establish an interactive website to promote mutual learning and facilitate dialogue on nutrition in Africa;
§ Guide the design and establishment of an interactive website for ALN’s continental nutrition accountability scorecard;
§ Ensure coordination across selected partners;
§ Support the use of relevant nutrition indicators to produce country level nutrition scorecards and studies on economic investment case for nutrition to highlight progress in nutrition.
5. The Bank’s Public Health, Security and Nutrition Division invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested eligible Consulting Firms shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to provide the required services (documentation, references
to similar services, experience in comparable assignments, availability of qualified staff,
etc.).
6. The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall
be in conformity with the Bank’s Procurement Policy for Recruitment of Corporate
Consultants. Please note that interest expressed by a Consulting Firm does not imply
any obligation on the part of the Bank to include it in the shortlist.
7. The estimated duration of services is 3 months and the estimated starting date is 1
August 2019.
8. Interested Consulting Firms may obtain further information at the addresses below
during the Bank’s working hours: from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Abidjan local time
(GMT).
9. Expressions of interest must be received by email at the addresses below no later than
Friday 28 June 2019, at 5:00 p.m. Abidjan local time (GMT) and specifically
mentioning “FIRM - Continental Digital and Knowledge platform for Nutrition”
in the subject line of the email.
