Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. This notice does not constitute a commitment by the Smithsonian Institution. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary, and the Smithsonian Institution will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government.
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking interested parties to provide, package, transport and install six (6) factory pre-fabricated residential-style housing units, approximately 1, 200 s.f. (111.4 sm) each at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater Maryland, Housing units, including all walls floors exterior sheathing and window elements shall be fabricated to Passive House Design standards and constructed utilizing a fully integrated panelized engineering approach that includes robotic and BIM technologies, and shall be fabricated in a climate-controlled facility. All systems and services including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems shall be preinstalled prior to shipment and fully commissioned after installation. All wood materials used in construction shall be fully seasoned, cured and stored prior to fabrication in the fabrication facility specifically for the project. A full-scale mock-up of the unit shall be fabricated within the facility for approval purposes." Below is the link to the "passive house design standards"
